Anna University CGPA Calculator – GPA, CGPA & Percentage (R2021 & R2025)
This calculator follows the regulations of Anna University, Chennai, for B.E. and B.Tech students of its affiliated (non-autonomous) colleges: Regulations 2021 (admitted 2021-22 to 2024-25) and the Academic Regulations 2025 (admitted from 2025-26). Choose your regulation, enter your grades and credits for your GPA, add your semesters for the CGPA, and convert it into a percentage.
How Anna University calculates GPA and CGPA
Anna University calls the semester result GPA: the sum of credits × grade points over the semester's courses, divided by the credits. The CGPA uses the same formula over all semesters so far, to two decimals. To pass a course you need at least 50% of the total marks and 45% in the end-semester exam; below that the grade is U (re-appearance).
The two regulations grade differently. R2021 has six pass grades, from O (10 points) to C (5). R2025 calls the top grade S and adds a step in the middle: B+ is 7, B is 6.5 and C+ is 6. Under R2021, theory courses with more than 30 students are graded relatively, so your grade can differ from the marks ranges in the table; always use the grade on your result.
Under R2021 a U is left out of the GPA and CGPA until you clear the course, so it does not pull your GPA down; in the CGPA tab, enter the credits you cleared in each semester. R2025 does not say this clearly, so for a semester with a U, check the GPA on your grade sheet.

Applies to: B.E./B.Tech students of affiliated (non-autonomous) colleges admitted from 2025-26 onwards.
| Grade | Grade points | Marks | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 10 | 91 to 100 | Outstanding |

GPA: GPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ sum of credits over the semester's courses (Clause 21.2). The regulations do not say clearly whether a U (below 50 marks) counts with 0 points or is left out, so check a semester with a U against your grade sheet.
CGPA: CGPA = the same formula over all courses up to the latest semester, to two decimals (Clause 21.4). Value-added courses and NCC, NSS or NSO credits are not counted. Class: First Class with Distinction needs a CGPA of 8.50 or more with every course passed at the first attempt; First Class needs 6.50 or more.
Percentage: Percentage = CGPA × 10 (Clause 21.10).
