Compress Image to KB – Reduce Photo Size to 20KB, 50KB, 100KB

Online application forms often accept photos only below a certain size, such as 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. This tool makes your photo fit the limit while keeping it as sharp as possible: it tries the highest JPG quality that stays under your size, and only reduces the dimensions when quality alone is not enough.

How to compress an image to a size in KB

  1. Choose your photo or drop it in the box. JPG and PNG are supported.
  2. Enter the maximum size your form allows, or pick one of the common sizes.
  3. Press Compress, check the preview, and download the JPG.

Tips

  • Start from the original photo, not one that was already compressed: the result will be sharper.
  • If the form also asks for exact dimensions in pixels or centimetres, use the Form Photo Editor, which sets both the size in pixels and the size in KB.
  • Your photo never leaves your device. The compression runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my image still larger than the limit?

A very large photo may not fit a small limit at its full size. Keep the option to reduce the dimensions ticked, and the tool will make it smaller until it fits.

Which format does it save?

JPG, the format almost every online form accepts. A PNG is converted to JPG on a white background.
