Calicut University SGPA & CGPA Calculator (FYUGP & CBCSS)

This calculator follows the official grading rules of the University of Calicut for undergraduate students in its affiliated colleges and distance education: the four-year UG programme (CUFYUGP, admissions from 2024) and the earlier CBCSS UG scheme (admissions 2019 to 2023). Choose your scheme, enter your grades and credits, and get your SGPA and CGPA to three decimals, as the university reports them.

How Calicut University calculates SGPA and CGPA

Both schemes use the same letter grades, from O (10 points) to P (4 points), with F and Ab (absent) at 0. Your SGPA is the sum of credits × grade points for every course of the semester, divided by the total credits. The CGPA is worked out the same way over all semesters. Both are rounded to three decimal places.

The pass rule changed between the schemes: under FYUGP you need 35% in total with at least 30% in the external exam; under CBCSS the external minimum was 20%.

Calicut University grade points: CUFYUGP 2024 (four-year UG)

Applies to: UG admissions from 2024-25 onwards, regular and distance (SDE).

SGPA: SGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits of all the courses taken in the semester, rounded to three decimals (Clause 20.1). Because every course taken is in the total, an F or Ab counts as 0 points.

CGPA: CGPA = credit points of all courses ÷ total credits of the programme (133 for the three-year degree, 177 for four-year honours), rounded to three decimals. Enter each semester's SGPA and credits.

Percentage: Calicut University does not publish an official CGPA to percentage formula for this scheme, so the calculator does not show one. If an employer or university asks for a percentage, check with your college office.

Calicut University grade points: CBCSS UG 2019

Applies to: UG admissions from 2019 to 2023.

SGPA: SGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits of the semester, rounded to three decimals (Clause 10).

CGPA: CGPA = total credit points of the six semesters ÷ total credits (120), rounded to three decimals.

Percentage: Percentage = (CGPA ÷ 10) × 100, that is CGPA × 10 (CBCSS UG 2019, Annexure-1). The same rule turns a semester's SGPA into that semester's percentage.

Official source: CBCSS UG Regulations 2019 (U.O. 6270/2023), Clause 10 and Annexure-1. Checked October 2026.

Example from the regulations

The FYUGP regulations (Table-19) work out a first semester with six courses: A in 3 credits (24 points), B+ in 4 credits (28), B in 3 credits (18), O in 3 credits (30), C in 3 credits (15) and B in 4 credits (24). That is 139 credit points over 20 credits: SGPA = 139 ÷ 20 = 6.950. Enter the same grades above and the calculator gives the same result.

Calicut University CGPA to percentage

For CBCSS UG 2019 the regulations give the formula: percentage = (CGPA ÷ 10) × 100, so a CGPA of 7.183 is 71.83%. The same rule turns a semester's SGPA into that semester's percentage.

The four-year UG (FYUGP) regulations do not give a CGPA to percentage formula; the final grade card shows the percentage of marks directly. For that scheme the calculator does not show a percentage, so you are not given a number the university does not use.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my SGPA have three decimals?

Calicut University rounds SGPA and CGPA to three decimal places in its grade cards and transcripts, so the calculator does the same.

Does a failed course count in my SGPA?

Under FYUGP the SGPA is divided by the credits of all courses taken, so an F or Ab counts as 0 points. Under CBCSS the university issues the SGPA only after every course is passed, using the new grade.

Which scheme am I in?

UG students admitted from 2024-25 onwards follow FYUGP. Students admitted from 2019 to 2023 follow CBCSS UG 2019.
