JNTUH CGPA Calculator – SGPA, CGPA & Percentage (R22 & R25)
This calculator follows the academic regulations of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) for B.Tech students in its non-autonomous affiliated colleges: R22 (admitted 2022-23 to 2024-25) and R25 (admitted from 2025-26). Choose your regulation, enter your grades and credits, and get your SGPA, CGPA and percentage the way JNTUH works them out.
How JNTUH calculates SGPA and CGPA
Both regulations use the same 10-point grades, from O (10) down to C (5), the lowest pass grade. F and Ab (absent) carry 0 points and mean the subject is failed. Your SGPA is the sum of credits × grade points over all registered courses of the semester, divided by the credits registered, rounded to two decimals.
Two things are different in R25. JNTUH works out a semester's SGPA only once every course in it is cleared, and the CGPA is calculated over your best 160 of the 164 credits you register for: up to 4 credits of eligible courses can be left out (never professional core courses, labs, seminars or project work). So if you have a low grade in an eligible course, your official R25 CGPA can be a little higher than a calculation over every course.
JNTUH grade points: R25 (2025-26 onwards)
Applies to: B.Tech students admitted from 2025-26 in JNTUH's non-autonomous affiliated colleges.
| Grade | Grade points | Marks | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| O | 10 | 90 and above | Outstanding |
| A+ | 9 | 80 to below 90 | Excellent |
| A | 8 | 70 to below 80 | Very good |
| B+ | 7 | 60 to below 70 | Good |
| B | 6 | 50 to below 60 | Average |
| C | 5 | 40 to below 50 | Pass |
| F | 0 | Below 40 | Fail |
| Ab | 0 | Absent (counted as failed) |
SGPA: SGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits registered in the semester, rounded to two decimals (Clause 10.9). JNTUH calculates it only once every course of the semester is cleared.
CGPA: CGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits over your best 160 credits from all semesters, rounded to two decimals (Clause 10.10). Up to 4 credits of eligible courses can be left out; professional core courses, labs, seminars and project work cannot.
Percentage: Percentage = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10 (R25 Clause 19.1).

JNTUH grade points: R22 (2022-23 to 2024-25)
Applies to: B.Tech students admitted from 2022-23 to 2024-25 in JNTUH's non-autonomous colleges.
| Grade | Grade points | Marks | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| O | 10 | 90% and above | Outstanding |
| A+ | 9 | 80% to below 90% | Excellent |
| A | 8 | 70% to below 80% | Very good |
| B+ | 7 | 60% to below 70% | Good |
| B | 6 | 50% to below 60% | Average |
| C | 5 | 40% to below 50% | Pass |
| F | 0 | Below 40% | Fail |
| Ab | 0 | Absent (counted as failed) |
SGPA: SGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits registered in the semester, rounded to two decimals (Clause 9.8). A subject is passed with grade C or above.
CGPA: CGPA = sum of (credits × grade points) ÷ total credits over all semesters so far, rounded to two decimals (Clause 9.9). After the first semester, your SGPA is your CGPA.
Percentage: Percentage = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10 (R22 Clause 11.2).

Examples from the regulations
The R22 regulations work out a semester with six courses: A in 4 credits (32 credit points), O in 4 credits (40), C in 4 credits (20), B in 3 credits (18), A+ in 3 credits (27) and C in 3 credits (15). That is 152 credit points over 21 credits: SGPA = 152 ÷ 21 = 7.24. Their CGPA example over three semesters adds up to 518 credit points over 69 credits, a CGPA of 7.51.
The R25 regulations give a semester of eight courses with 152 credit points over 20 credits: SGPA = 7.6. Enter these grades above and the calculator gives the same numbers.
JNTUH CGPA to percentage
Both regulations give the same formula: percentage = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10. A CGPA of 8.0 is 75%, and the 7.51 from the example above is 70.1%.
Frequently asked questions
What CGPA is first class with distinction at JNTUH?
Under R25, a CGPA of 7.5 or more is first class with distinction if you passed every course at the first attempt without detention; 6.5 to below 7.5 is first class. Under R22, distinction needs a CGPA above 8.00 with every subject passed at the first attempt; 7.0 to below 8.00 is first class.
Does this work for autonomous colleges under JNTUH?
Not necessarily. Autonomous colleges publish their own regulations, which may grade differently. Check your college's rules.
Why is my SGPA not on my memo?
JNTUH shows a semester's SGPA only when all its subjects are passed. Once you clear a backlog, the SGPA appears on the memo of that exam.
